Gatineau, 4 April 2025 — Innovation axelerator Axeo, created through the merging of Institut Innovation Gatineau (IIG) and Cilex, announces today the departure of Michael-Anthony Clement, who was in charge of ecosystem development under the new organization. He now leaves to pursue his own business projects full time.

Mr. Clement joined the IIG team in 2017 first as Director of Startup Program Development, then became General Director in 2018. Over the years, he was able to grow the incubator into a solid organization, through the development of strategic initiatives and robust partnerships. He was also a key figure of the IIG and Cilex merger that took place in 2024.

“It’s been a deeply rewarding journey helping shape Gatineau’s startup ecosystem — one that’s grown in leaps and bounds thanks to the relentless work of our original team at IIG, the folks at Cilex, and now the unified force that is Axeo,” said Mr. Clement. “It’s where I learned what it really takes to make something happen in the world… Grit, patience, relentless execution — but above all, the power of a great team. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the most incredible teammates over the years. Each one left a mark on me, and the current team at Axeo has all the ingredients to take our ecosystem even further.”

Mr. Clement’s skill set in business network development has allowed many partnerships to transfer over to Axeo after the merger, on top of creating new relationships for the organization. The entire Axeo team and the Board of Directors thank him for his contribution to the ecosystem over the years and wish him the best with his future projects. Mr. Clement will remain active in the entrepreneurship world, working full-time as head of his own business.
